Surprising big brother reading to younger brother (he hates to be called "little" ;). And seeing younger brother listening carefully.  Everything just happened so naturally, no instructions from mommy.

Our home has certainly been blessed by Homeschooling and Montessori!

Tablero de Tiras de Suma / Addition Strip Board

Cuando Yn empezó Montessori este semestre ya sabía multiplicar…pero tenía unas áreas que necesitaba mejorar en las Matemáticas. Una de estas áreas era la memorización de las tablas de suma. Para trabajar con esto, Yn hizo dos actividades Montessori usando el Tablero de Tiras de Suma:

This semester, when Yn started doing Montessori for the 1st time, he already knew the basics of multiplication... However, he still had some difficulties in Math. He was having a hard time memorizing the addition facts. To improve this, Yn worked on two activities using the Addition Strip Board:

1.   Combinaciones Sueltas -donde escogía al azar combinaciones de suma y usaba el tablero con sus tiras para conseguir el total. Al final, anotaba el total en su librito.

1.  Combination Slips -in which he chose addition combination slips and used the Addition Strip Board to find out the total. Then, he wrote it down in his booklet.

2.  Totales Repetidos -donde buscaba diferentes combinaciones que sumaran un mismo total usando el mismo tablero y los anotaba en la libreta.

2. Combinations of a sum -in which he had to find out the different combinations of a sum using the same board. Then, he recorded in his notebook this time.

Ambas ejercicios son formas divertidas de memorizar las tablas de suma! El tablero es cortesía de Montessori en el Hogar. Y las tiras las imprimí en “card stock” rojo y azul de una forma que creé ya que no tenía tinta suficiente. Deje un comentario si desea copia electrónica de esta forma. Both exercises help our kids memorize the addition facts in a fun way! The board was printed thanks to Montessori en el Hogar. The strips were printed in red and blue card stock as my printer didn't have enough color ink to do so. I'll gladly share this template I created if you leave a comment. :)

Actividad PASCUA y Pinzas / EASTER Tong Activity

Conseguí esta hielera pequeña con pinzas y todo ($1.99 / Always 99) y no pude resistir la tentación de preparar esta actividad de Pascua para Ym. Los trozos de hielo tienen cuentas, hilo de tejer y escarcha con pega. A mi travieso le encantó la actividad! De hecho, hicimos unas variaciones que no estaban en la agenda.  Les contaré más adelante...

I found this cute little ice bucket with tongs ($1.99 / Always 99) that would go perfect with Ym. So, I couldn’t resist the temptation of putting together this Easter activity. What’s inside the ice cubes? Beads, knitting thread and glitter glue. My little rascal really enjoyed the activity!  In fact, we did other variations that weren’t planned. I’ll tell you more about it later…
