Tutankamen The Exhibition

Tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar la Exhibición de Tutankamen con nuestro grupo de homeschooling. Estuvo espectacular! Aprendimos mucho y pudimos ver muchas de las cosas que ya habíamos estudiado en casa. No se la pierdan!
Mi parte favorita fue la momia real y las imágenes bajo el mar de Antigua Alejandría. La parte favorita de Yn fue la réplica de la tumba de Tutmosis III.
***We had the opportunity to visit Tutankhamen The Exhibition with our homeschooling group. It was awesome! We learned so much and saw many things we had already read about. Don’t miss it!
My favorite part was the real mummy and the images of Ancient Alexandria under the sea. Yn’s favorite part was the replica of Thutmosis III.

Compré estas 2 tarjetas postales: una de la máscara dorada de Tutankamen y la otra del busto de Nefertiti, la 1ra esposa de Ramses II.
***I bought these 2 postcards: the golden mask of Tutankhamen and the bust of Nefertiti, Ramses II 1st wife.

Día de la Raza / Columbus Day

Con motivo del Día de la Raza, hicimos varias actividades esta semana que disfrutamos y de las cuales aprendimos mucho…
*This week we did several activities to celebrate Columbus Day. It was a learning AND fun experience for all of us ...






Leimos este libro sobre Cristóbal Colón que sacamos de la biblioteca.
*We read this book about Christopher Columbus. We got it at the local library.















Le añadimos un poco de drama…
* Adding some dramatization...




























Hicimos una manualidad de las Caravelas de Colón. (Hicimos la misma hacen como 2 años atrás pero la repetimos porque a Yn le encantó!)
*We did a Spanish Galleon craft we found HERE. (It's the same one we did 2 years ago because its Yn's favorite!)
























Hasta vimos esta película.
*We even watched this movie.












Por último, fuimos al musical infantíl “Las Aventuras de Cristobalito Colón” en el Centro de Bellas Artes en Santurce.
*Finally, we went to a kid's musical play called "The Adventures of Little Christopher Columbus".

Museo de Insectos / Insects Museum

En agosto visitamos el Museo de Entomología {Insectos} localizado en el Jardín Botánico de Río Piedras. Este estudio surgió de una caminata que dimos para apreciar la Naturaleza donde los chicos me expresaron su interés por los insectos. Otro día les cuento sobre esto. Fue una gira muy interesante excepto por el olor fuerte que había en el museo.

*On August, we visited the Insects Museum located at Rio Piedras' Botanical Garden. After having a nice Nature Walk with the kids, they expressed to me their interest in studying insects. I'll tell you more about this walk in the future. I have to say this was a very interesting trip except for the strong odor inside the museum.

Place to Play

Llevamos unos laaaargos días de lluvia.

Y había que llevar a los nenes y nenas a pasear y jugar.

Así que visitamos a “Place to Play”.

Un poco encerrado y ruidoso para mis gustos pero disfrutaron muchísimo.

Una alternativa para los días lluviosos...

{Les aseguro que mis hijos no comparten mi opinión ;) }

So, the boys and girls were ready for some outdoor fun.

This is why we decided to visit "Place to Play".

Actually, I find it a little to noisy and enclosed. But they all had a great time. For me it's just an alternative for rainy days.

{I guarantee you my kids don't share this opinion with me ;) }

Exhibición del TITANIC / The TITANIC Exhibition

Este viernes pasado Yn y yo fuimos a la Exhibición del Titanic con Jeannette y Xavier de Montessori en el Hogar y un grupo de “homeschoolers”. Estuvo impresionante!!! A Yn le encantó… muy en especial, la réplica del témpano de hielo. Esto complementó muy bien el libro que Yn había leído sobre la historia del Titanic titulado THE TITANIC Lost…and Found de la autora Judy Donnelly

A todos los que tengan la oportunidad de ir a la exhibición, no se la pierda!!!

Last Friday Yn and I went to the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. We went with Jeannette and Xavier from Montessori en el Hogar and our homeschooling support group. I have to say I was impressed!!! Yn loved it too... especially, the iceberg replica. This exhibition complimented very well the book Yn read about this titled THE TITANIC Lost…and Found by the author Judy Donnelly.
Don't miss this exhibition!!!
