Visita Inesperada / Unexpected Visit

Mi querida sobrina A de 5 años vino a visitarnos la semana pasada. Quedó encantada con nuestro salón! Estuvo trabajando la mayor parte del día sin darse cuenta ya que ella decía que habían muchos juegos en el salón. Y hasta escogió trabajos de diferentes materias! Hizo una sesión de Montessori muy variada.
///Last week, my dear 5-year old niece A came to visit us. She was thrilled to see our classroom! Without even knowing it, she worked during a great portion of the day. She kept talking about how many games there were in the classroom. She even choose activities from different subjects. A lot of variety in this Montessori session.

Comiendo manzanas verdes. Tuve que compartir esta foto por ser la 1ra vez que Ym hace el intento de comer manzanas. Le dió 3 mordizcos y escupió 4!

Algo de Matematica / Some Math

Definitivamente hay tablillas que se llenan de polvo más que otras {espero entiendan a lo que me refiero--NI LAS MIRAN!}. En casa ESA TABLILLA es la de Matemática {por lo menos para Ym}. Así que decidí reunir todas sus actividades de esta materia para compartirlas en una sola publicación… y el que no lea este párrafo va a pensar que Ym hace MUCHA MATEMÁTICA! :D
***There are definitely some shelves that get more dusty than others {if you know what I mean--KIDS DON'T EVEN LOOK AT THEM!}. At home THAT SHELF would be the one for Math {at least for Ym}. This is why I decided to be patient and put together a Math post... so that those who don't read this introduction would think Ym actually does A LOT OF MATH! :D

Para que Ym no comiera tantos chocolates lo compartimos entre Ym, Yn y yo. Y yo, como buena madre, fui la que más me sacrifiqué.
***I made a huge sacrifice and shared the chocolates with my 2 kids. But, of course, I ate the most of them just to be a good mother and take care of their diet.

Esto fue un "jueguito" que nos inventamos al momento: Yo le presentaba una Tarjeta de Número, y él oprimía el mismo número en mi celular.
***This is a "little game" we made up: I showed him the Number Card, and he pressed the same number on my cell phone.








Aquí usando tapitas de leche como contadores.

Comenzó muy emocionado!!!

…pero no le duró mucho. Parecía como si se hubiese quedado sin gasolina, jaja.

Otro "jueguito" inventado: Yo le tiraba el dado y él contaba la misma cantidad de fichas.
***Another "little game" made up: I threw the dice and he counted the same number of tokens.

Mezclando Colores / Mixing Colors

Cuando escuché a Ym hablando de los colores primarios e identificándolos en todas partes, recordé esta fabulosa actividad del blog de Mama Jenn. Gracias Jenn por compartirla!
***When I heard Ym talking about the primary colors and identifying them everywhere, this fabulous activity from Mama Jenn's blog came to my mind. Thank you Jenn for sharing it!

Estas son las 2 Ruedas de Colores que hicimos. Ym hizo el de la izquierda y yo el de la derecha. Decidimos colgarlos como cortinas en nuestro saloncito.
*** These are the 2 Color Wheels we did. Ym did the one on the left and I did the one on the right.
We decided to hang it as curtains in our classroom.



Estos son todos los materiales que necesitas para esta actividad. {El blog de Mama Jenn tiene un tutorial muy detallado.}

Ym colocó las 4 gotas de cada color primario. Primero, el rojo...
***Ym placed 4 drops of each primary color.
First, the red...











Segundo, el azul...
Second, the blue...













Luego, el amarillo...
Then, the yellow...













Luego, colocó las gotas en los 3 círculos restantes donde se mezclan los colores primarios, y mezcló con un palillo de diente cada círculo.

***Then, he placed the drops in the 3 remaining circles in which the primary colors are combined, and mixed them up with a toothpick.








Finalmente, cubrió el trabajo con papel toalla y... MAGIA!!! ...aparecieron los colores primarios Y secundarios.

Y ahora, quieren saber como colgamos las cortinas?
***Finally, he covered the work with paper towel and the primary AND secondary colors appeared... LIKE MAGIC!!!

Celebrando el 4 de Julio / Celebrating the 4th of July

Así celebramos el 4 de julio… en casa de mami y bien relajados.
***This is how we celebrated the 4th of July... just relaxing at mom's house.

Estos son los nenes compartiendo con mami en una piscina “super mega gigantezca”. ;)

***These are the kids "hanging out" with my mom at the "super-duper-gigantic" swimming pool. ;)

Me encanta toda la vegetación del patio y toda la variedad de alimentos que mi mamá siembra allí!

***I really love all the plants, trees and food she actually grows on her backyard!

Estos son 3 panapenes que recogimos. Usé uno para hacer un pastelón de panapén. Mmm, qué rico!

***These are 3 breadfruits that we picked up. I used one to make a breadfruit and beef lasagna.
Mmm, delicious!
