La presentación fue algo así…"Esto es un camión de arrastre. Los camiones de arrastre son muy ruidosos. Sabes por qué son ruidosos? Porque tienen un motor, y tienen capacidad propia para moverse. Así son las palabras raices. Tienen capacidad propia (mi traducción de "power"-debe haber otra mejor)." Usé como ejemplo la palabra “granja” en Inglés la cual deletreamos usando el alfabeto movible en cartulina.
***I guess you are trying to figure out what in the world is Mack (from CARS, the movie) doing in this Suffix presentation. Well, I have to admit he played a very important role here. However, we had to put up with Ym who was nagging at us for bringing TOYS to our classroom. ;)
The presentation went some what like this... "This is a truck. Trucks are very noisy. Do you know why? A truck has a motor... it has its own power. Root words are like trucks. It has its own power." Then, we spelled out farm with our homemade moveable alphabet.
Luego, le enganché el vagón al camión y le dije que el vagón no tiene capacidad propia para moverse… lo tiene que mover el camión. Añadí el sufijo “er” en color rojo y le dije que, al igual que enganchamos el vagón al camión, estamos enganchando el sufijo a la palabra raiz.
***Next, I attached the trailer to the truck and explained to him that the trailer has no power... it has to be moved by the truck. I added the "er" suffix in red and told him I was attaching the "er" suffix to the "farm" root word the same way the trailer is attached/fastened to the truck.
Aquí le repartí dos grupos de tarjetas, palabras raíces y sufijos, para que las pareara. Como podrán notar, la palabra raiz va de color azul mientras que el sufijo de rojo. Las "bandejas" son dos tapas de recipientes que encontré en los mismos colores. Me funcionaron de maravilla! ***Here, I gave him to sets of cards, root words and suffixes cards, so he could match them together. You may notice that the root words was written in blue while the suffixes in red. The matching "trays" are two lids I found in the kitchen. It worked perfectly!

Las sacó todas bién, e incluso, me mencionó de otra palabra que se podía formar (“sailing”).***He got all of them right, and even told me of another word he found to match: "sailing".
También trabajamos con la definición en Inglés de Raiz y Sufijo. ***We also worked on the Root Word and Suffix definitions.

There are only few 6-9 Montessori blogs that I found Montessori En El Hogar, her blog is very good and Sarah Sellers blog that she sometimes posts about teaching her older child.
